Government Assistance and Financial Assistance For Seniors

With the economy the way it is, this is an incredibly important list…a listing of as many government assistance and financial assistance for seniors that I could come up with.

Needless to say, this list of government assistance and financial assistance programs will continue to grow.   Many of the links below will link to other articles on this site, where I have more detailed information on free cell phones, free walkers, free walkers, free transportation, etc…

But I am also looking for your help.

It would be if their were true application on line to fill out. If it’s free why do you have to use a credit card, put the application on line and I can fill it out myself, always a scam behind something for free!!

      Shirley,

Not always a scam, but you are right that you do need to be careful.

What I have found in my role as a caregiver is that there are tons of free services out there to help seniors…and there are also the scams that you mentioned.

We will never get rid of those in our society which is why you must be care.

If you need any specific help I will do what I can to refer you to a reputable resource to assist you. Please feel free to let me know.

I am a flex instructor for silver sneakers. There are many gyms and fitness centers that are available to seniors for free if they have the silver sneaker benefit on their insurance. Silver Sneakers has also added a flex program that allows instructors to go into community centers, retirement communities, really any place there is a demand for exercise instruction for seniors. It is at no cost to seniors with the silver sneaker benefit. I even have several seniors who do not have the benefit, I just let them sign in and take the class. Noone knows that they do not have the benefit and we have to keep attendance records, so if they come to class and work hard and get something out of it, then I am happy. Seniors can call 1-888-423-4632 (TTY: 711) or go to http://www.silversneakers.com for more information.
