Perhaps the biggest takeaway from the recent Aging-In-Exurbia event I attended was the focus on empowering the economic, social and intellectual capital of today’s seniors.
And I must admit, considering my experiences with my mother in a nursing home environment and the stream of questions I get relating to requests to find free services there are times I have been guilty of thinking of seniors only in the context of what they need from society and from government.
But in doing so, I completely overlook the benefit seniors can bring to our society.
Sometimes, they only need a little help to bring those talents to light later in life.
That is what the SCSEP is for.
The goal of the program is to get seniors who wish to work and contribute to our society to continue to do so.
