Free Dental Care in Michigan

When I went to search for free dental programs in Michigan, the first thing I did was to contact the Michigan State Dental Association.

I was happy to receive a response from April Stopczynski at the Michigan Dental Association, Public Affairs and Government/Insurance Affairs Assistant.

She informed me that several different directories of programs existed…and they were all in one place. So as I have alphabetically gone through the states seeking sources of free dental care for seniors, that is the first time that has occurred.

The directory, which can be found by clicking here [opens in a a separate window] has a listing of programs by county which…

“These programs offer services to seniors, low-income individuals, patients on Medicaid, disabled, handicapped or institutionalized individuals, individuals with no dental insurance, children, individuals who are in nursing homes or are home-bound, and others in need of dental care they could not otherwise afford.”

As a test, I went to the website and put in a sample search. I just picked a county at random and waited for the search result.

The results have the name of the clinics in that county, the website for that clinic, the type of services offered and the fee structure. Included in the fee structure is whether the clinic accepts Medicaid.

From most listings, there is a more comprehensive listing of the reduced fee structure on the individual clinic websites.
