This is a difficult post to write, because I get questions regarding free adult diapers all the time.
And the reason is obvious, they are a disposable product and that means you need to be constantly re-supplied with them.
And that is a problem for cash-strapped seniors and caregivers.
And unfortunately, it can be REALLY tough to find these adult diapers for free. Yes can be found, but to find a large supply that can be re-stocked is a tall order.
So I am going to take you through the steps I would use to try and find free adult diapers. But be warned, you probably will NOT find them for free forever, but I will give tips for how to find samples and discounts…
I would start with a search of local diaper banks. A diaper bank works on the same premise as a food bank, and the way to search for them is locally.
Note: Most of the diaper banks I searched for locally for this article actually were geared towards low-income moms with babies, not seniors. So even if you have a local diaper bank in your area finding free adult diapers might be tough to come by.
Now, if there is a local resource that offers free adult diapers, there are a few organizations that would know about it…
• Office of the Aging-the “go-to” resource for seniors and caregivers in your community
• Lion’s Club-a service organization dedicated to serve the community
• House of worship-many times a local house of worship will have something a diaper bank set up for its parishioners
Now comes the next and more obvious question. If there is not a diaper bank near me, and the Office of the Aging can’t help, what do you do?
In this instance, we move out of the realm of free adult diapers and into cheaper sources and samples. I am sorry but that is the way it is.
Now, this does not mean that you cannot save a huge chunk of money. It just means that the companies that produce the adult diapers can’t just give them away for free…they’d go out of business soon enough.
So let me start to give you a few ideas…
In particular, check out the first link. Because it was written by a subscriber who I emailed to ask how he goes about getting so many free samples. Part of his reply to me was…
I have applied for free samples at a lot of places. You can go directly to the brand, such as TENA, Always, Depends; or, you can go to home delivery suppliers. I have applied at 8 places since yesterday. I also check with Big Lots and Roses. Big Lots does not always have incontinence supplies; but, when they do, they are half the price of other stores. Roses carries pads and briefs almost all the time. They don’t do great on the briefs; but, they have a great price on the pads.
So Joe’s strategy is to seek out free adult diaper samples at as many places as possible. This way he can stretch those samples for the diapers…as well as a lot of other stuff….as long as possible.
The second link talks about where to go for samples, and some tips for saving money.
Most of the big incontinence companies…Depends, Tena, etc…have an email list you can subscribe to. Now, I am only 45 so I have a long way to go before I need these supplies, but I subscribed to both email lists to give my subscribers an idea of the benefits.
As I was preparing this article, I got an email from Depend…$5 off a purchase and 15% off on follow up orders.
So seek out these coupons because they will save you cash.
Big Box Retailers
Lastly, I spent some time at my local BJ’s looking at their incontinence supplies and save savings of 35% or more by buying in bulk.
I give you all the details here so you can check out those ideas here.
The search for free adult diapers is a tough one. But there are some ways to help if you look hard enough.
