Save on Your Prescription Drug Costs…
There was recently an amazing article in CNN Money. In case your haven’t read it, the article, “CVS charges $133 more than Costco for generic drug” had a title that was an obvious eye opener.
The article detailed a Consumer Reports study of 5 medications that recently lost their patents, meaning that generic alternatives were now available.
Consumer Reports sent secret shoppers into multiple pharmacies to see who offered the cheapest prices for the same, identical medication.
The results were startling.
Rite Aid, Target and CVS were the most expensive, while Costco and Sam’s Club, a subsidiary of Wal-Mart, were the cheapest.
Why the discrepancy? Well, to quote from the article… “At places like CVS or Rite Aid, the pharmacy is their major source of revenue. Costco and Sam’s Club are using the low drug prices to pull people in stores who will spend money on other things.”
So, when it comes to where you get your prescription medications, head over to Costco and Sam’s Club…that’s where you will save the most.
